HePEX: SMART TECHNOLOGY PROVIDING SMART SAVINGS!
HePEX is a tubing system advancement designed to replace traditional copper tubes found in heating systems. It is lightweight, readily accessible, easy to maintain and resistant to corrosion. Using the hePEX system ensures a substantial life cycle cost reduction in parts and labor for transit organizations. The hePEX tubing system’s rise to eminence began over 5 years ago when first integrated into Volvo Bus Corporation vehicles.
NOVA-FLASHBACK: APTA AND CUTA SPRING CONFERENCES
The APTA Bus & Paratransit Conference was held in Long Beach, CA, from May 6 to May 9, 2012. For Nova Bus, all the key elements were in place to make it one of the best spring conferences ever! We had a great location, a motivated team and fantastic weather for the exterior Bus Display. Three weeks after, our team took part of the CUTA Annual Conference in Victoria, BC, from May 26 to 30. The conference was a tremendous success, with over 400 delegates from across North America attending a series of dynamic and inspiring sessions and workshops.
VOLVO REACHES A 23% MARKET SHARE IN HEAVY BUSES IN BRAZIL
Volvo sold 3,652 buses in Latin America last year, 153% more than in 2010, achieving an all-time high since it began manufacturing chassis in the country in 1979. Established in Curitiba, in the state of Paraná, where it manufactures heavy and semi-heavy bus chassis, a Volvo Bus Latin America grew its market share in Brazil by another six percentage points, reaching 23% in 2011.
“This is the fifth consecutive year that the market share of the Volvo bus division has grown in the country,” celebrated Luis Pimenta, president of Volvo Bus Latin America. In Latin America, the sale of urban buses also increased materially, reaching 2,600 units, nearly double the 906 chassis posted in 2010.
According to Pimenta, the company also saw excellent performance in the coach segment in Latin America, practically doubling sales. “The positive figures for 2011 reflect the ongoing increase of our product offering, and the significant number of new customers won over by the brand. We currently offer chassis for heavy urban and coach buses for all segments. These are conventional, articulated and bi-articulated chassis,” stated Pimenta.

Prevost has retained their industry lead in market share for private sector coach sales, according to the latest motorcoach industry report. The report reveals that in the 1st quarter of 2012, Prevost held the market share lead of private sector coach sales.

VOLVO OCEAN RACE: PUMA FIRST TO MIAMI
Almost exactly 17 days after they led coming out of Itajaí in Brazil, PUMA Ocean Racing powered by BERG beat a thunderstorm on the way into Miami by a hair's breadth to make it back-to-back leg wins. An hour later, CAMPER with Emirates Team New Zealand arrived with the foul weather to claim second, before Groupama sailing team won their match race with overall leaders Team Telefónica for third.
