The 2012 APTA Bus & Paratransit Conference was held in Long Beach, CA, from May 6 to May 9, 2012 and drew approximately 900 attendees. For Nova Bus, all the key elements were in place to make it one of the best spring conferences ever!

We had a great location, a motivated team and fantastic weather for the exterior Bus Display on May 7. The Nova Bus vehicles and the cool refreshments station were as busy as could get! Hundreds of visitors came by to take a sneak peak at the Nova LFS Smart Bus including our proprietary Nova eCooling system which can improve fuel economy by up to 18% and the LFS HEV (hybrid) featuring our new interior design. Our sister company, Prevost, also a member of the Volvo Group, displayed the ultimate Intercity Coach, the X3-45.

The Nova Bus team was proud to garner the same success the very next day at the Long Beach Convention Center Product Showcase. Thanks to all of you who stopped by our booth and took the time to participate to our “Smart Contest” for a chance to win one of the four 1/50 Nova LFS scale models.

Congratulations to the winners: Beth McCormick from Orange County Transportation Authority, David Vanderzee from Pace Suburban Bus Service, Hazel Yeo from BC Transit and Jose Raymundo from LATTC - Los Angeles Trade Technology College.

The 2012 CUTA Annual Conference took place in Victoria, BC, from May 26 to 30. The conference was a tremendous success, with over 400 delegates from across North America attending a series of dynamic and inspiring sessions and workshops.

Nova Bus was a proud sponsor of the CUTA Hall of Fame Golf Tournament which took place at Victoria’s Bear Mountain Golf and Country Club on May 28. Our team was located on the 18th hole tee-off, cheering for the golfers and distributing gifts to participants.

The next day, during the Business Member Evening, Nadine Bernard, Director of Marketing, offered Future Shop gift cards to the winning teams on Nova Bus’ behalf.

At the Business Members’ Showcase session on Sustainable Products and Services, Jean-Yves Vallee, Director of Product Planning at Nova Bus, presented the Electro Mobility concept and introduced the path to complete bus electrification.

One of the major challenges to the Transit industry is the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through fleet electrification. The session covered some of the challenges of electrification and how the industry is addressing these challenges now and in the future.
