Nova Bus and St. John's work their “pink” thumbs
Nova Bus and the St. John’s Transportation Commission, operating as Metrobus Transit, teamed up today for the first corporate Pink Tree Planting under Pink Days In Bloom’s “The Pink Tree Project” in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Atlantic Region.
The dedication ceremony took place at the St. John's Transportation Commission's new public transit facility on Messenger Drive.
“I am very proud of our long-lasting relationship with the St. John's Transportation Commission and how our teams have a joint venture to drive quality of life and strengthen our communities,” said Jean-Pierre Baracat, President of Nova Bus. "Today’s initiative truly has a positive impact and confirms Nova Bus’ commitment to sustainability and partnership.”
"This is an important initiative to Metrobus and the community," said Metrobus General Manager Judy Powell. "We are delighted to have Nova Bus join us in the launch of this special project. This tree will be an enduring symbol of our joint partnership for this cause. We encourage others to also plant a pink-blooming tree so that support is visible throughout our communities."
The pink-blooming tree is donated by Nova Bus to the St. John’s Transportation Commission. It was supplied by Pat's Plants and Gardens, Bay Bulls and a portion of the tree purchase has been donated to the CBCF-Atlantic Region to help fund innovative breast cancer research, equipment and programs in the Atlantic Provinces.
